20 years ago when I first started working at Disney, Pocahontas was the first character I ever officially worked on. Even though it was a LONG time ago, I still find myself doodling her when my mind wanders. Sometimes a year may pass before she shows up on my paper. But, I still feel like that kid walking through the doors of Disney 20 years later. Hello again, Pocahontas. It’s been a while. :)
Lupita Nyong’o is my latest celebrity crush. She is so beautiful and graceful. I saw her speech on beauty that made me sob like a little girl. Growing up, I also hated the color of my skin. I’m the darkest among my sisters and mother; in fact they used to joke around that I’m “item goreng” which losely translated to ‘brunt and crispy’; and not until I’m an adult that I start loving my skin color. If you have a chance, please watch her speech, I gotta warn you, you may cry.
